how to convert a special character, such as #?

I would like to make a Sequence Diagram and there is a part like this:

frontend->QqOAuthServletrender#reder():window.location.replace("api/OAuth/Qq/render")

and it doesn't work properly because of '#'

I used '\' but it doesnt work too...

Can you please give a complete example showing the problem. as in your example line I don't see a # sign at all. Also useful to know the version and a link of the model with Plantuml webserver: http://www.plantuml.com/plantuml
