My question comes from the fact that I need a feature (namely, this one:  https://forum.plantuml.net/10597/preprocessorv2-multiline-function-invocation?show=10608#a10608) that is only available from January 2020 onwards, but homebrew installation uses version
PlantUML version 1.2019.11 (Sun Sep 22 07:02:15 BRT 2019), which - I assume - is not up-to-date, and, therefore, does not contain what I need (hence, my graph is not being generated on the command line, while it is on the IntelliJ plugin and online interpreters).

I also have no clue on how to try to force an update to an installation via homebrew (and using -checkversion doesn't help either, since it will complain about proxy and I have absolutely no idea on what to do regarding this whole proxy affair).

closed with the note: The problem was with an out-of-date brew. Nothing to do with plantuml at all.
