Explosion pies (kind of)

Question

I'd like to create images like the following. They could even be simpler like a surrounded area that contains several fields lying next to each other. E.g., "Machine Learning" ist the surrounded area and "Supervised Learning" and "Unsupervised Learning" are the (only) fields that are within.

So it is this kind of diagram that you are interested in?

I guess the closest thing that PlantUML has to that currently is the Mindmap, to display a similar branching approach to data.  It would certainly be a fun alternative presentation style for Mindmap data.
