Change state diagram arrowhead color for "specific" connectors

Question

Is there any way to change the color of the arrowhead (not the whole arrow) on a state diagram, or else remove the arrowhead completely, for specific connectors.  It would help me with my solution to overcoming poor state diagram layout issues (which I have elaborated on below).

My purpose for this is to improve state diagram appearance by using ortho linetype and using specially formatted states for connector labels (rather than putting labels on the connectors themselves).

I would like the connector from the state to the "connector label state" to have no arrowhead.  Ideally, these pseudo connector labels would also have less whitespace around them.
