Is this pragma no longer supported?

Yes, from the last release:

• Release v1.2025.1 · plantuml/plantuml

this EBNF pragma !pragma compact is no longer supported.

I noticed that in edit mode it is already updated

Before version V1.2025.1, you can choice the drawing mode, and having a compacted mode by using !pragma compact command

but the page is not updated.
