PlantUML as modeling tool

Hi all,

I have read an interview with the founder of PlantUML, there he said "Another possible direction is to turn PlantUML into a real modeling tool". The interview was done in 2016 - have there been some activities in the meantime?

We are following a doc-as-code approach, PlantUML perfectly fits into that. But since our models are getting complex, we are missing to have a central model. A text-based and model-based UML tool does not seem to exist yet. At least for component and deployment diagrams, this would be very helpful. Macros are definitely not a solution. A minimum solution would be e.g. to have a model of all components and some kind of consistency check across all diagrams or may auto-completion for existing model elements.

Thanks,

Regards,

Daniel

In the meantime I found pumla too (I didn't try it but it looks like a simple plantuml based solution)
