Can we control individual lifeline styling using beta styles or stereotypes?

I'm looking to control the styling of lifelines for individual participants in a sequence diagram, so that the lifeline of that participant looks visually distinct from the lifelines of other participants.

I've tried using stereotypes to no avail, and using the beta <style> tag to try to add a style, but that doesn't seem to work either. I can control the global style though.

I have a participant like this:

    participant "alpha" as A <<A_style>>

and I'd like the lifeline for this participant specifically to be, say, #red
