I would like to be able to generate systems biology diagrams.
As a first step, this would require state-chart like diagrams with the ability to create arrows between a state and another arrow. These state to arrow arrows indicate the effect a state has on a biological process. For example, the concentration of protein X increases (or decreases with a T shaped arrow head) the rate of protein Z production from protein Y1 and catalizator C.
Later, there are many graphical notation standards to choose from. One example is:
