Deployment diagram layout issue

Question

I have some layout issues in the following deployment diagram:

1. How can I have the "other" and "worker" nodes below the "main" node?
2. How can I decrease the vertical spacing between the artifacts?

When having "empty" nodes the layouting works as expected:

Any hints on how I could improve the diagram are highly appreciated.

Thanks for your suggestion! The artifacts look much better. However the changed arrows feel like an ugly hack to me, and the result still isn't what I'd expect (I edited my post to include a version with "empty" nodes – I'd expect the same layout for filled nodes as well).
