Move transition arrow to self in state diagram

It would be nice to be able to move transition arrows to other sides of a state in state diagrams. Sometimes the right hand side of a state can get a bit cluttered. Especially if there are multiple transitions to self with different output, where there's a need to model the difference. But sometimes transitions from other states have to be moved manually out of the way to avoid crossing a transition to self on the right-hand side.

This feature could be helpful. Do you have a proposal of syntax?

self -right-> self
self -left-> self
self -down-> self
self -up-> self

Reusing the syntax that already indicates sides and directions of arrows seems the most sensible to me. Currently only placement on the right side is possible, and should probably stay the default.
